Guardians of the Wall Guides

Playtest onboarding, combat, co-op, and raid prep in one place.

Guides Hub

This hub is the map for every Guardians of the Wall guide on the wiki. The game is still upcoming — Steam lists a Q1 2027 PC release, and Boiling Bits opened the first playtest on 3 September 2026 — so the pages here focus on what players actually need before a full launch: how to get in, how combat is supposed to feel, how four-player raids should be built, and which systems are confirmed versus still in flux.

If you are brand new, start with Getting Started. That page walks through wishlist, language support, the Bastion-and-raid loop, and the three hero styles Boiling Bits already named. If your only question is “can I play this week?”, jump to How to Join the Playtest and keep the system requirements tab open while you request access on Steam.

What these guides cover right now

Pre-release wikis fail when they pretend a finished loot table exists. We do not invent Guardian names, boss names, or keybinds that Steam has not published. Instead each guide is built around confirmed store copy, the announcement trailer, Steam screenshots, and the two-developer studio’s own notes.

When you need a ranked opinion instead of a walkthrough, switch to the hero tier list or the weapon tier list. Those lists are labeled as pre-release reads, not live-meta gospel.

How a session is supposed to flow

Steam’s about text splits the fantasy into two layers. Between raids you live in the Bastion — the refuge where permanent unlocks, crafting, and hero awakening happen. During a raid you drop into a handcrafted arena or a procedurally generated zone, fight undead waves, and pick up temporary upgrades, weapon modifications, and session-based perks. When the raid ends, only the permanent rewards go home. That split is the whole roguelite hook, and it is why our builds page talks about two loadouts: the kit you bring in, and the kit you gamble for mid-run.

Combat is sold as chaos with a plan. You can swap between melee and ranged on the same Guardian, throw grenades, chain abilities, dash to stay alive, and block heavy hits. Screenshots show a horned heavy with a shotgun and a blade on the back, a blue energy lash from the off-hand, and village fights that get messy fast. None of that requires you to memorize a 40-page wiki. It does require you to pick a role before you queue with friends. Use the Guardian roster for that choice, then come back here for the mechanical pages.

Pre-release versus post-launch reading

Until the 1.0 build ships, treat every number on this site as a snapshot. Keybinds may change in the playtest. Hero kits will expand. World events such as The Breach of the Wall are named on Steam but not fully documented. After launch this hub will add patch-by-patch boss routes and drop tables. For now the high-value pages are playtest access, combat, co-op, and the September 2026 playtest notes.

If you only have fifteen minutes: wishlist on the links hub, confirm your PC on the tools hub, skim combat, then pick a frontliner, a ranged specialist, or an elemental caster and write that role in your Steam group chat. The Wall does not need a fifth person who “can play anything” and then dies first.

How we write these pages

Every guide on this hub is meant to answer a search, not to pad word count. “How to play” lives on getting started. “How to join” lives on the playtest page. “How to beat” a raid lives on raids and bosses, with the honest caveat that named bosses are still scarce in public materials. When Boiling Bits publishes a full control scheme or a hero reveal, we update the matching page and the updates hub on the same pass so the facts stay aligned.

Internal links use plain language. You will not find a dump of URLs at the bottom of every article. If a sentence needs a destination, the anchor tells you what you will get when you click. That is also why this hub exists: one place to see the whole guide set without repeating the Steam store paragraph four times.

Read two pages before you install. Read the rest after your first wipe. That is the intended use of this hub.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Which guide should I open first?

New players should start with Getting Started. If you only care about the September 2026 test, open How to Join the Playtest.

Do these guides assume the game is fully released?

No. Guardians of the Wall is upcoming for Q1 2027. The guides are written for the Steam playtest and for players preparing a first raid.

Where are hero names and exact keybinds?

Boiling Bits has not published a full roster or a public keybind table. We describe the three announced playstyles on the Guardian roster and keep controls on Combat and Controls.

Is there a video on every guide?

No. The official announcement trailer is embedded on Getting Started. We do not invent YouTube IDs or repeat the same clip on every page.
