Guardians of the Wall News and Roadmap
Dated facts from Steam and Boiling Bits — no fake patch notes.
This hub is the timeline. Guardians of the Wall is upcoming, so “updates” does not mean a weekly live-service blog. It means the handful of official beats that change how you should prepare: Steam page launch, trailer, playtest announcement, playtest start, and eventually a Q1 2027 ship date. We keep those beats here so the guides can stay instructional instead of repeating news.
Current deep dives: September 2026 playtest and the April 2026 Steam announcement.
Confirmed timeline
- 2025 into early 2026 — Boiling Bits, a two-developer team, builds the melee-plus-firearms prototype in Unreal Engine 5.
- April 2026 — Steam page live (app 3575220). IGN and GameTrailers run the official announcement trailer. Boiling Bits posts on Reddit asking whether the combat mix feels right.
- 28 August 2026 — Steam news: “Playtest starts on September 3rd.”
- 3 September 2026 — announced start of the first playtest. Request Access remains the store-page path; see How to Join the Playtest.
- Q1 2027 — planned Windows Steam release. No day, no price, no console SKU.
If a date is not on this list, we do not have it. “Soon” in a YouTube title is not a date.
What is still unknown
- Final price and edition structure (a DLC ID exists on the Steam app record; Boiling Bits has not explained it in public store copy)
- Whether playtest progress carries to 1.0
- Named hero roster and keybinds
- Languages beyond English
- Console ports
- Exact contents of The Breach of the Wall
Unknowns belong in guides as warnings, not in this hub as invented answers. When they become known, they get a dated note here and a patch on the matching guide.
How we source this page
Priority order: Steam news hub for app 3575220, the store description, boilingbits.com, then reputable trailer posts (IGN). ModDB and IndieDB mirror the store text and confirm the engine. Reddit is used only for the developer’s own post, not for comment rumors.
We do not scrape random Discord screenshots. We do not copy mobile-game patch notes from a different “Guardians of the Wall.” If two products share a name, this wiki is the Boiling Bits PC co-op RPG.
What to read after a news beat
- New playtest wave → playtest guide and wishlist and access
- Spec change → system requirements
- Hero names → Guardian roster and hero tier list
- Combat patch → combat and controls
- Release date day-month → this hub, then Getting Started
That routing is the point of a small studio wiki. You should not have to reread the lore paragraph to find out whether the playtest button moved.
Roadmap language, used carefully
Steam’s feature list is the closest thing to a roadmap: four-player co-op, hack-and-slash mix, hero builds, raid-and-survive, progression, dark fantasy biomes, evolving events. That is a promise of systems, not a 2026–2027 calendar. Boiling Bits is two people. Slips happen. Q1 2027 is a planned window, not a pre-order countdown with a clock we can embed.
If the window moves, the facts file on this site moves with it, and every page that said “upcoming” stays consistent. If you catch a sentence that sounds like 1.0 has shipped, it is a bug. File it by pointing at Steam, then we fix the line.
For the press kit and studio contact, use the links hub. For what to do with a key you just received, do not linger here — go play, then come back and tell the raids page what a boss actually did.
