Guardians of the Wall Hero Tier List (Playtest Snapshot)

This is a playtest snapshot, not a finished meta. Guardians of the Wall has not published hero names, win rates, or a tournament. The ranks below are for the three jobs Steam already named, plus notes on the horned heavy silhouette that dominates public footage. Use them to pick a seat. Do not use them to argue in a Discord Boiling Bits has not linked.

Read the Guardian roster first if you do not know what the jobs are. Pair the rank with a hero build so the letter has a spend order.

S — Frontline fighter (as a role)
Horde games with over-the-shoulder cameras punish groups that have nobody in the street. Steam’s own verbs — charge, block, melee, aggression — are written for this seat. In a playtest with incomplete kits, the person who can eat an overhead and still dash is the difference between a raid and a loading screen. Frontline is S not because it will always deal the most damage, but because it makes the other two jobs possible.

A — Ranged specialist
Runners and white-haired grabbers in the screenshots are why this seat is not optional in a four-stack. Shotgun cones and grenades solve density that melee cannot turn to fast enough. Ranged drops to B if you play it as a turret that never dashes. The job is A when it kills the thing that is about to touch the caster.

A — Horned heavy silhouette (as a kit, not a name)
The trailer-and-screenshot body already mixes the S-tier job with an A-tier gun and a blue off-hand. That flexibility is why he looks like the default playtest character. He is not a fourth job. He is what happens when a frontliner is allowed to hold a shotgun. If the playtest gives you this body, take it and learn both halves. If it gives you a pure caster instead, do not cry about this row.

B — Elemental caster
Casters are advertised and will matter when their control actually stops a pack. In a first playtest, kits may be thin, cooldowns may be long, and villages may not wait for a charge-up. B means “bring one, not three.” When a later patch makes elemental effects the raid’s main language, this row moves. We will date that move on the updates hub.

C — Unconfirmed lighter melee
The shirtless runner in the cabin shot is not ranked as a real hero. If he is an armor state, he is not a pick. If he is a separate Guardian with less defense, he is a specialist for players who already know dash timing from combat and controls. C until the character select screen exists.

What the letters mean here

• S: take this seat if nobody else did
• A: take this seat to cover a specific wipe (runners, density)
• B: take this seat as the third unique job, not as a stack
• C: do not plan a group around it yet

There is no D-tier because there are not enough public kits to insult. We would rather leave a letter unused than invent a “trap hero.”

Solo versus four-player ranks

Solo: play the S-tier job or the horned heavy kit. You cannot out-range a grab that already has you.
Duo: frontline plus ranged.
Trio or four: add the caster, then duplicate the seat that caused the last wipe. The co-op guide is the composition page; this list is the priority when two people want the same toy.

If your group already has two frontliners, the next player should not take S just because S is shiny. They should take A-ranged. Letters are seats, not high scores.

Why this list will look wrong in Q1 2027

Launch will add named heroes with actual ultimates. A caster who can freeze a village will leapfrog a frontliner who only has a slow block. A dedicated sniper — if one exists, and we have not seen one — will change the A-ranged row. We will keep this September snapshot in place so you can see what we believed before names existed. That is more useful than pretending we always knew.
