Guardians of the Wall PC System Requirements
Steam’s minimum and recommended specs, with playtest notes.
Guardians of the Wall is a Windows-only Unreal Engine 5 title. Steam publishes two spec cards. This page copies those cards, then explains what they mean before you request the playtest. Numbers below are from the store listing for app 3575220. If Steam changes them, this page follows Steam, not rumor.
After you pass the check, go to Steam wishlist and access or the long playtest guide.
Minimum (Steam)
- OS: Windows 10, 64-bit
- Processor: Intel Core i5-10600 / AMD Ryzen 5 5500
- Memory: 12 GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3 GB / AMD equivalent
- DirectX: Version 12
- Storage: 25 GB available space
- Sound: Windows-compatible audio device
Minimum means you should get into a raid, not that you will like the frame time when four people throw grenades into fog. If you are under any one of these lines, fix that line before you blame combat for feeling floaty.
Recommended (Steam)
- OS: Windows 11, 64-bit
- Processor: Intel Core i5-11500 / AMD Ryzen 5 5600
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 2080 8 GB / AMD equivalent
- DirectX: Version 12
- Storage: 25 GB available space
- Sound: Windows-compatible audio device
Recommended is the card to take seriously for a dark-fantasy UE5 horde game with fire, particles, and gore. The GTX 2080 8 GB line is a generation newer and twice the VRAM of the minimum 1060 3 GB. That gap is where most “why is this stuttering” tickets will come from.
Platform limits
- Windows only. Mac and Linux requirements on Steam are empty.
- No console SKU is listed. Trailer comments already asked. Until a Steam news post says otherwise, plan on a PC.
- Partial controller support. A pad may work; it is not a promise of a fully mapped UI.
- English interface and full audio. Specs will not add a language pack that the store does not list.
Laptop users: match GPU class, not laptop brand. A “gaming laptop” with a 4 GB mobile chip below the 1060 3 GB line is still below minimum. Plug in power. Windows power-saver on a raid is how dashes hitch.
What to drop if you are near minimum
Steam does not publish a settings bible. For a first playtest session, drop the expensive toys first:
- Shadows and volumetric fog
- Particle and gore density if a slider exists
- Effects quality
- View distance last — you still need to see a runner
Keep resolution at native if you can. A blurry 1080p dash is easier to time than a 4K slideshow. Unreal Engine 5 titles often ship with upscalers; if the playtest exposes DLSS, FSR, or XeSS, try them before you start cutting the raids and bosses draw distance to soup.
12 GB of RAM is the minimum, not a comfortable number if Chrome is open with 40 tabs. Close the browser. Close the overlay you do not need. 16 GB is the recommended card for a reason.
25 GB of storage is small by 2026 standards, but do not install onto a dying 5400 RPM drive and then write a Steam review about loading. An SSD is not listed as required; it is still the right answer.
CPU notes
i5-10600 and Ryzen 5 5500 are six-core-class parts from the previous generation relative to 2026 hardware. They are fine if the GPU is honest. They will struggle if you host a four-player raid and stream at the same time. Hosting advice sits in the co-op guide: the strongest, most stable machine hosts.
If your CPU is older than these names and you are hoping “it is just an indie game,” remember it is still UE5 with hordes. Indie is the team size (two people at Boiling Bits), not the rendering budget.
DirectX 12 and old GPUs
DirectX 12 is required. GPUs that only do a reliable DX11 feature set are out. The GTX 1060 3 GB is already the bottom of what NVIDIA considers a DX12 card for this listing. The 3 GB VRAM number is tight for UE5 textures. If you own a 6 GB or 8 GB 1060, you are still in the same GPU generation but you will breathe more. If you own a GTX 970 3.5 GB, you are below the card Steam named. Do not expect a miracle.
AMD equivalents are not named with a SKU on the store card. Do not map that blank to a random RX 580 blog post. If you are on AMD, compare raster performance to a 1060 3 GB at 1080p, then assume you want more VRAM than 3 GB.
After you pass
If you meet recommended, you are ready to play, not ready to max a cinematic screenshot. Turn on the settings that help you see grabbers. Then go learn a job on the Guardian roster. If you fail the check, stay on the wishlist anyway — the Q1 2027 release is still the target, and hardware can change before then. Official store text always wins; we will update this page when Steam does, and log the change on the updates hub.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.

Does it run on Windows 10?
Yes. Windows 10 64-bit is the minimum. Windows 11 is recommended.
Is there a Mac or Steam Deck listing?
Steam’s Mac and Linux requirement blocks are empty. The store page is a Windows PC listing.
How big is the download?
Steam lists 25 GB of available space. Leave extra room for shader caches during the playtest.
